How much do you trust God?
Trusting God gives us the strength and courage to tackle life's obstacles head-on, knowing that He is always there to guide and support us.
How would you respond if I asked you, “How much do you trust God?”
When we trust in God, we open ourselves up to a world of possibilities. We begin to see life in a new light and find meaning and purpose in even the most challenging of situations.
Trusting God gives us the strength and courage to tackle life's obstacles head-on, knowing that He is always there to guide and support us.
So if you're feeling lost, uncertain, or just in need of some guidance, take a leap of faith and trust in God. You won't regret it! That's what I've learned firsthand.
Years ago, I decided to record an episode of a podcast. This was in 2011. Podcasting then wasn't like it is today. I stayed up late on September 11, 2011, to record this five-minute episode on trusting God. I was pretty pumped about it.
My Scripture was Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight" (LSB).
That night, after recording I went to bed. I was woken up several hours later when I felt something crawl into my ear - bear with me, I promise this story has everything to do with learning to trust God!
I freaked out...as would most people, right? I lived at home still and had to wake up my mom who eventually drove me to the hospital after being unsuccessful at getting whatever crawled into my ear out.
Once at the hospital, the pain I was in was unimaginable. Within the hour they were able to kill the bug, but could not remove it. I remember lying in the hospital bed in the ER and hearing the Lord say to me, "Are you going to trust Me even now?"
Right then I remembered what I had recorded hours earlier. The episode was all about trusting God in every situation no matter what. The Lord taught me in that moment that my trust wasn't really like the trust I spoke about in that podcast episode.
This was the moment the Lord took me to the woodshed. It hurt but I needed to hear the Lord call me out. Have you found yourself in a similar situation? Maybe without the big in your ear, I hope?
That night the Lord grew my trust in Him!
Later that night I was released from the ER only to return the next day because my ear was bleeding. They were unable to remove it the night before. Between me twitching everything they came close to my ear and the meds knocking me out, the bug was there to stay for the time being. Now, I was back in the ER on a Sunday evening. I was supposed to go to the ENT on Monday to have the bug removed. Gross, I know.
This time around they finally got it out. And it only took a few minutes! That was a huge relief!
As I already mentioned, trusting God gives us the strength and courage to tackle life's obstacles head-on, knowing that He is always there to guide and support us.
The bug in my ear was a BIG obstacle for me, but God taught me to trust Him more through it as silly as it may sound.
A bug in my ear taught me a lesson on trusting God. To be honest, I’m thankful for the lesson now. I realized building a foundation of trust in the Lord was very much needed as I navigate the complexities of everyday life.
Are you trusting God completely? If not, what's holding you back? For me, it was just a pure lack of really believing God could come through for me. He used a bug in my ear to teach me He's with me in all circumstances and that He's trustworthy and faithful. Always!
Oh, and that podcast episode was never published. Maybe one day I will remake it.
